Wellfleet voters selected Sheila Lyons and John Wolf to fill the two open Selectboard seats at the town election on Monday.

Lyons garnered 814 votes and Wolf had 593, according to unofficial results Monday night. It’s Lyons’ first time on the Selectboard. Wolf will continue serving after first being elected in 2021.

During the campaign, Lyons said she wanted the board to get back to its true function: setting policy and letting town staff do their jobs. In an earlier Times interview she said the board’s job is to understand the issues facing the town, make sure the town is functioning properly, and to take advantage of state and federal funding opportunities.

Wolf said during the campaign that affordable housing was a top concern. He plans to push for affordable home ownership opportunities with the Maurice's Campground housing project. He said he will seek state legislators' help pushing back mitigation plans required for dredging Wellfleet Harbor.

Tim Sayre, who won a special election eight months ago to replace Kathleen Bacon who resigned, received 240 votes.

Steven Kopits received 226 votes.

There were no other contested races. Also on Monday, Daniel Silverman was elected as town moderator. Lauren Hill and Melissa Lynch were elected to the Elementary School Committee. Yvonne M. Barocas was elected as a library trustee, and David Martin Agger was elected to the Cemetery Commission.

Of the town’s 3,196 registered voters, 1,007 turned out to vote.
